Quite simply it’s about creating a surge of activity that will in turn lead to a surge of success for you and your business.
Get the imagery here. The definition of surge is “a strong, wavelike, forward movement, rush, or sweep”. Isn’t that what we’d all like to see for ourselves when it comes to success in life and in business?
You might be thinking it’s all very well to say “create a surge of action” but just exactly what should that action be?
That very question puzzled me for a long time. And it’s a question a lot of people struggle with.
Like so many people I’ve met in the network marketing industry, once you get past the facade of “I’m doing GREAT!” and dig a little deeper, an awful lot of people are NOT doing very well. They’re reluctant to say so because it goes against the grain of being positive and the whole “fake it ‘till you make it” mindset.
The reasons people struggle in the network marketing business are many, but mostly it comes down to these 3 things:
- Lack of proper training
- Fear of doing the unknown
- Emotional deflation
Let’s look briefly at each of these.
Lack of training
In this business, MLM training usually consists of a lot of over-excited hype and “showing the plan”.
But stop and think about it. How does someone who has never been in business, never done a presentation, and never sold a product, turn all that around and become successful?
The reality is that most people do not know what to do or how to do it. And the training just isn’t there in most cases.
Fear of the unknown
Also referred to fear of stepping outside your comfort zone, most of us have this to one degree or another.
For some, it’s debilitating. For others it’s a roadblock or detour. But if you’re trying to build a relationship marketing business, it’s something that you and those on your team will face.
This goes hand in hand with lack of training.
If what you see your up-line doing is not easily duplicated, you may pull back due to feelings of doubt and uncertainty. They’re up on the stage at the weekly meetings doing presentations in front of dozens, or even hundreds of people.
Most people are deathly afraid of anything that remotely resembles public speaking! How are they (or you?) going to get up in front of people to present your opportunity? How are you going to approach dozens of people, especially when the majority of those you approach are simply not interested?
Emotional deflation
This is perhaps the biggest problem in this industry.
It’s what happens when the initial excitement fades in conjunction with the reality that success only comes if you actually get out and start showing the plan and selling some product. And let’s face it, those are things that the vast majority of people have never done and are extremely uncomfortable doing.
You’ve bought into the excitement and the dream, bought the kit, talked to a few family and friends who said “no thanks” and then what? Your self-doubts start to build or maybe even crash down on you. If you go to the meetings you’re told that your success depends on having a strong enough “why”. But in the cold harsh reality of daylight, you feel that sense of frustration and doubt creeping over you.
There are solutions!
As disheartening as this all sounds, there are solutions!
If you’re like me and thousands of other people in this industry, you know there must be a better way to approach business building other than hounding your family and friends and everyone you meet.
You come to the realization that most people are not willing to put the time and effort into doing what it takes to succeed, regardless of how excited you are about the opportunity!
The big question then becomes, where to you find prospective team members for your business?
That is largely what this site is about.
Massive action is required – but knowing what actions are the right ones is really tough when there is so much conflicting information coming at you from every direction. If you had a way to cut through all of that noise and chatter and find the things that really work without all the hype and false promises, would you be interested?
